62nd ILTTA Tournament

The 62nd International Light Tackle Tournament was held May 1-5 in beautiful Cancun. 39 anglers composing 13 teams from Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Costa Rico, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Republic of South Africa, and United States released 157 sailfish in 4 days of fishing. Club Nautico De San Juan won the coveted "Big Belt", led by Midel Gomez with 14 releases (1st. place angler), Carlos Barnes, and Chales Donato. 2nd. Place team was Port Aransas Rod and Reel, Robert Veselka (3rd. place angler), Jack Dougherty, and Bill Cohen. 3rd. place team was Curaco Yacht Club, Salomon Kaluf (2nd. Place angler) Robert Van Vliet, and Dirk Van Vliet. The Cancun Anglers Club with Armando Ferrat as tournament chairman hosted this year's event.
